ACCOMMODATION

30 wooden bungalows are built in the local Shan style scattered on former rice paddies. To let you be as close to nature as possible there is no TV and telephone in the rooms - here you can enjoy the sounds of the surrounding jungle, the floating waters and the relaxing atmosphere. All our rooms provide - Air-conditioning - Hot water facilities - Private terrace and/or balcony - Complimentary drinking-water We offer you two different types of accommodation. Deluxe Room Spacious and tastefully furnished, do our Deluxe bungalows provide a very comfortable accommodation The interior design is a perfect combination of bamboo and teak, offering you a dressing table, chairs and a small table in the bedroom. The private terrace faces the rice field in the back of the resort - here you are away from it all.

Bird Watching
As we have selectively planted trees at Fern Resort we are proud to have several rare birds as our visitors up in the trees The Green Leaf bird, Hoopoes, the Slaty-backed Fork tail, Bulbuls and the White-rumped Shama are commonly seen, as well as the black-hooded Oriole here in the picture A great experience is a trip into the Mae Surin National park south of the Fern Resort, where the Great Hornbill lives.

Nature Trails
Enjoy the beautiful nature of Mae Surin National Park and hike on the nature trails behind Fern Resort

Follow our lovely guide dogs - for example to the beautiful Mae Sakut Waterfall and enjoy a splash of fresh mountain water.

Trekking
You can start directly from Fern Resort to go on a trek lasting a few hours or even several days. Visit hill tribe villages like Ban Nam Hoo, Ban Huai Hee or Ban Huai Goong, where you can learn more about the daily life of the Karen. The way they live in harmony with the surrounding forest is a great experience for everyone You will be introduced even more to the community-based tourism, we follow with our concept. In the area of Mae Hong Son there are also Shan and Hmong villages you can visit. We cooperate with very good and skilled local tour guides, who can accompany you and share their knowledge of culture and traditions with you.

Local Agriculture
There is always something to watch and to see around our rice fields You are very welcome to join the work in the field - try to plant or harvest rice yourself.

Biking
Take a mountain-bike and explore the area around the Fern Resort cycling
From here you reach for example the boat station at Ban Huai Dua at the Pai River within half an hour, from where you can go on your own on a long tail boat to visit a village of the Padong longneck women and ride through the jungle on the back of an elephant

Not only the town itself, also the surrounding valleys along the rivers are beautiful and quite easy to explore by bike.

By plane
Thai Airways offers three daily flights from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son. The flight time is 30 minutes. Let us know about your arrival and we will be there to pick you up. FREE TRANSFER

By Bus
There are several bus connections every day from Chiang Mai via Pai or via Mae Sariang. Taking the Pai-Route is usually faster, via Mae Sariang the road is less curvy

Via Pai you can get on a public bus (takes about 8 hrs) or on a private van (takes 5 hours). Give us a call once you have reached the town, and we will pick you up. FREE TRANSFER

By road From Pai
Reaching Mae Hong Son on 1095, you pass the center of town on the main road (Khunlumprapas Rd), in southern direction (No. 108 to Mai Sariang).
Leaving the town behind, after 7 km you will see the big wooden signs for Fern Resort on the left side of the road. Take a left turn and follow the small, curvy road for another 2 km. At the end of the valley you will see the Richfield and some bungalows on the right side. - WELCOME TO FERN RESORT

From Mae Sariang
Coming from Mae Sariang / Mae Lanoi / Khun Yam on Rd. 108 you pass the village Ban Pha Bong and the Hot Springs. After 3 km the FERN RESORT signs appear after a long curve on the right side. Take a right turn and follow the small, curvy road for another 2 km. At the end of the valley you will see the Richfield and some bungalows on the right side. - WELCOME TO FERN RESORT.

18th December 2010 Andrew Nowakowski	It was a nice hotel. maybe a little pricey for thailand as it was out of town. Didn t seem like there was a lot of accomodation to choose from in that town. Cant complain really.	6.6/10
20th September 2010 Morris Allen	A beautiful location, delightful gardens, pleasant staff, a detached bungalow with a large bedroom, rustic furniture. Potentially a 10 ! BUT no fridge, no coffee making facilities, very hard Thai mattresses, no hot water on the handbasin for shaving, no hairdryer. All that one would expect from a 700Baht per night Thai resort.......but Fern charge double that off season! This could be a 10 with more thought for customer comfort. We would NOT stay again until they change the mattresses and add a fridge.	5.6/10
16th April 2010 Partha Pratim Bhattacharyya	Really exquisite and fascinating pet-friendly resort in the lap of nature, yet clean, comfortable and cozy! We traveled with our pet dog from BKK, and he liked the place as well, and the guide dogs of the Resort - Khun Singtoh and Khun Nuengning. The resort staff were also very friendly and helpful.	10/10

30th December 2009 Ignatius van Hoof	WE WERE NOT VERY HAPPY HERE! WE LEFT AFTER 2 DAYS, IT WAS NOISY AND OVERCROWDED, WE FELD REALLY STUCKED IN A HOLIDAY CAMP!!!!!FOOD WAS HORRIBLE, AND RECEPTIONSTAF VERY UNFRIENDLY.SO WE WILL NEVER GO AGAIN! SORRY!	5.6/10
25th December 2009 Mario	Very nice Hotel, clean rooms and beautiful surroundings. Perfect for nature fans. 2km off the main road and 6 km from Mae Hong Song. Very friendly and helpful staff, food was ok as well. We missed the Minibar and the Water cooker or coffee making facility, because we traveled with a young child and needed to keep some drinks cold or heat up some water for milk or a coffee early in the morning. The restaurant provided us with hot water, so that was ok, but can t keep drinks cool in the room. No telephone or TV in the room and no connection with the mobile phone either, but that was ok since we had a holiday. Listen to birds and the water flowing along the resort was very relaxing. The only minus point was the missing opportunity to eat in the room, using the room service. The restaurant does not deliver food to the room. As we traveled with a young child dining in the room would be more convenient, as sitting in the restaurant where the child is running around and you can t enjoy your dinner. After all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and we going back someday for sure.	8/10

26th November 2009 S. A.	Nice ambient in the mid of the mountain. However, no mobile signal in room and around the resort, no TV. Room is not ok - shower is terrible as hot water is not working. Bathroom is smelly all the time. No land-line phone in room and no mobile signal. When you require anything you have to walk all the way to front office. Next time in Mae Hong Song I would rather try a better place.	6/10
8th November 2009 Barry Eckers	Our large bungalow was very nice with our nearest neighbor almost out of sight. The only downside in our suite was no T.V. (not really missed), No Phone and No Complimentary Daily Coffee (which I sorely missed). Other than the above I was very happy with Fern Resort. BTW the scenery was beautiful!	9/10
28th October 2009 famille	A very beautiful place. But very far from town. A nice walk around, but nothing else. A good restaurant in a very peaceful atmosphere at night. Except one grumpy boss at the cashier, a rather pleasant staff. Choose the room close to the rice paddies they are better and newer.	4/10

9th July 2009 Robert Margolies	Like a paradise on earth, the setting is unique, everything nice and clean - the staff meets your every need even in this country setting without t.v. and other distractions. We stayed in a room in which Brad and Jolie s stayed couple of month s earlier - no kidding - we saw the pix! Monies here go to help the local population, many are refugees - so a win-win all around!
15th March 2009 Kenneth Hartung	Very nice hotel and nice staffs. I love their dog guide leading us into the walking trail behind the hotel. The room is clean, nice view of the creek. Breakfast might be a bit simple but it was OK. Generally, I would like to come back and stay longer in next time.

8th October 2008 Aya Berenstein Melamed	No internet in the rooms. Free internet at the lobby, which opens only 08:00-20:00, daily. 10Km from the city, no taxi service. Very nice dinner. O.K. breakfast.
29th July 2008 hibouhibou	The place is wonderful and the staff so nice. This was our first night in the region of Mae Hong Son and we could not have been more enchanted. The suite room with the little patio next to the river was a divine place to rest. The garden is such a lush place and being guided by dogs for a small trek was very special and memorable. The free transfer to town makes this an ideal place to rest and to discover the region.
1st March 2008 Pongval Tulyagijja	The garden was nice, but the room was not clean at all. The floor and the bathroom were so dirty. We didn t happy with the room.
20th February 2008 Robert Freeth	Very friendly service, excellent suite room with a view over the paddy field. Enjoyed a trek accompanied by 3 of the resort s dogs. Will return again
21st November 2007 Martin Crevier	Really nice resort for the nature lovers. Although our villa was in the middle of a rice field, once you step inside, it feels like you are in a 4 star hotel room. Shower and toilet are ok but not well maintained. Two or three nights is sufficient.
