21st January 2012 Gilles Pastor | The staff are all very nice. | 6.4/10 |
18th September 2011 Anonymous | Front desk took almost an hour to check us in when we arrived on late Friday night. They were messy, uncoordinated and didn t seem to comprehend simple English.
Also, we had to beg for a kettle and the hotel apparently only had ONE .. which we used to share with 3 other friends in different rooms.
I called reception to ask for a hairdryer .. and the different people who answered the phone couldn t understand a single word of English. Had to go down personally to the reception to ask for one .. and the staff on duty (3 or 4 of them) were very unfriendly.
We ve stayed in several hotels across Thailand, and this one s our first bad experience in a hotel in Thailand. | 4.2/10 |
4th January 2011 Belinda Ash | We loved this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and quiet at night. We would definitely stay here again. | 8/10 |
4th November 2010 Anna Huovinen | Pretty ok hotel for short stays at least. Room was clean and big (twin bead) but you should take a sea view to have something to look at from the window. Hotel staff was friendly but didnt speak much english. Free internet. They have a private beach but at the moment of our stay the water was really murky. Breakfast was quite basic. Location is good if you wish to continue with a ferry from the Nathon pier. Otherwise the town itself is somewhat dirty and boring. | 6/10 |
19th October 2010 Choi Ling Che | near Nathon pier,traffic convenient take easy.Beautiful hotel environment,good service and friendly. | 9/10 |
26th July 2010 Thomas Lidholm | A genuine surprise. Good location in Nathon, Very good genuine Thai food, spicy and well presented. The service was really good and the staff tried very hard to be of service. The rooms held a normal standard. English was spoken by everybody we met, perhaps not as good as on the fancier hotels on Chaweng beach but everybody tried their best and with a little help everything always worked out fine.
If you want to get away from the tourist traps all over the island and look for some nice shopping in Nathon for 2-3 days this hotel was really nice and in high season even the beach seems to be ok. | 8.4/10 |
17th July 2010 Harman | GOOD, CLEAN AND MODERN ACCOMMODATION. bIG ROOMS. pERFECT FOR A DAY OR TWO IF YOU NEED TO CEATCH A FERRY SOMEWHERE. | 8.8/10 |
5th February 2010 Chris | This hotel exceeded our expectations in many ways. The rooms are large and clean, the pool is clean and beautifully landscaped, the beach-front is large and clean, and the staff was amazing. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and convenient. I d definitely stay here again! | 8.4/10 |
17th January 2010 David Boughtflower | good location near to ferry, beach is dirty so would suggest a more remote location if you are looking for a relaxing holiday but its great if you just stopping for a day or two near the ferry | 8/10 |
24th December 2009 Sirikul Marshall | We booked 3 rooms on the sea view side and we did not like the layout of one of the rooms. Management was nice enough to upgrade us to a deluxe room instead and we were very happy with that room. We found all the rooms to be clean and modern with 2 large windows looking out on to the sea. The hotel also has a nice sized swimming pool and a nice private white sandy beach. The staff was also very nice and friendly and helpful. The breakfast is pretty good. We think it\ s a steal at 1600 Baht a night. We\ ve already booked two more nights for when we\ re back in the area. | 8.4/10 |
8th August 2009 Vincent Edward Bruni | The hotel room was pleasant and was not over priced at 50 US per nite.
The hotel restaurant workers did not speak english well, and one nite I did not get my dinner. So I went out of the hotel for most of my food. The pool was nice, and the beach was a bizzare scene with lots of sand, trash, and choppy low water. The town does not have a clue regarding tourism. I did manage to arrange a motorbike ride to a nearby waterfall and that was the highlight of the trip. I really can t recommend this hotel. | 5/10 |
1st April 2009 Diane Osborne | My girlfriend and I spent four nights in the Grand Sea View Resotel on Koh Samui. The hotel is located in the town of Nathon and, as the name suggests, the property is on the waterfront. We reserved a deluxe sea view room, which had wonderful views across the bay and the town. The room itself was very spacious as was the bathroom. The facilities in the room included a large television [complete with a large selection of local and satellite stations], electronic safe, stocked bar fridge, air-conditioning and comfortable queen-sized bed. The room was kept spotlessly clean daily. An American buffet breakfast was included in the room price but we never made it to breakfast. There are two restaurant/bars located on the premises but we never saw anybody in there. In fact, we only saw three other couples staying there during our visit.
The pool area was excellent. We spent four afternoons lazing by the pool. The [infinity] pool itself was fine, which was helped by the fact that there was hardly anybody else using it. They could have done with some more sun loungers if there had’ve been more people using the pool. The hotel has a small stretch of beach, which had sufficient loungers and tables. However, the water in front of the hotel was extremely shallow to the point of visible sand banks so not much use for swimming.
The hotel is located on the southern outskirts of Nathon. It is between a 5-10 minute walk into the town centre and ferry piers. There was a reasonable selection of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Next door to the hotel is a restaurant/bar called Sunset, which we frequented daily to watch some amazing sun sets. Other restaurant/bars of note were: Samui Samui and Coffee Island. There is a decent sized Tesco supermarket located in the town centre. There were plenty of ATMs and currency exchange booths around the town. Most of the tour offices are located close to the vicinity of the ferry piers.
As far as value for money is concerned this hotel is an absolute gem and we would stay there again. If you are coming to Koh Samui for a holiday then you are more likely to prefer a more secluded resort-style hotel. However, if you are here on business or need to spend a night in a hotel close to the ferry piers then this is the place for you.
1st March 2009 Thomas | I had a great time at the hotel, it was quiet and the staff were tentative. Real nice beach and good restuarants nearby. I will diffently stay here again.
18th October 2008 shane paxa | Hotel staff were very accomodating. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The hotel location is 45 minutes from all the action on Chaweng so a bit far! 300-400 baht taxi ride each way.
3rd July 2008 Claire Oborne | Lovely modern hotel, amazing value for the size and comfort of the room. The only bad thing was the bathroom which looked like it could do with a clean. Ideally situated near the pier, nice beach in front, lovely pool and two of the cutest dogs!
17th June 2008 Nicole Raman | The Grand Sea View Hotel is perfectly located when you arrive with the ferry/bus, only about 300 m from the ferry.
The rooms are spacious and very clean; staff is very helpful. From the hotel restaurant area you have direct access to the swimming pool and the private beach.
Not expensive, very good choice.
One area of possible improvement: internet access in the rooms would be great (access in the lobby is possible though)
25th December 2007 Olli | We stayed here because we were transiting through Samui and continued with a ship in the morning from Nathon. The hotel is very nice, the rooms especially looked much better than the little outdated halls. The hotel has a nice beach on Nathon s scale, but honestly, there are better to be found elsewhere on the island.
19th August 2007 Paul Dickens | Room and bathroom were good, staff friendly and helpful. Food quite good but strangely few people were eating in the hotel, many seemed to be having room service (possibly as they were the same price as the restaurant meals).
19th August 2007 Angelo Di Gaetano | all was ok ; staff very kind and wellcoming.
