Welcome to the Krabi Province

KrabiKrabi province is divided in eight districts including Krabi Town and the beaches of the area as well as offshore island like Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta, among others

This is why we have grouped Krabi, Phi Phi and Lanta under the same Guide.

This part of the South-West coast of Thailand, on the Andaman sea, have remained ignored by tourists for a long time and, therefore not so much developped, certainly due to the over-developpement of its neighbour sister Phuket, a bit further north. Krabi did actually start its developpement in the end of the 1990s and Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi did embrace the tourism mass developpment only in the early 2000s.

Heavenly beaches - KrabiLike any visitors of this province, you will be delighted by the splendor of the landscapes surrounding you, surely among the most impressive you've been lucky to see.

Looking at Krabi beaches and its splendid cliffs, Koh Phi Phi and its supprising earth stretch linking two islands to become one, not mentionning the long, very long stretches of beaches of Koh Lanta.

You'll have the opportunity, for a day trip or a full cruise of few days, to explore the different group of heavenly islands, with these huge lime rocks planted in the andaman sea, which made this coast become so famous !
The inhabitants of the area, especially in Koh Lanta, are, for most of them, "sea Gypsies" and are warm and welcoming. There is no doubt at all that you will bring back unforgettable pictures and memories from your stay in this area.

Krabi, beaches to relax and cliffs to climb

Ao Nang - KrabiKrabi has become a more and more favorite destination since the mid 1990s and the former small basic huts lining the different beaches have since disappeared and left the place to concrete bungalows with aircon and luxuous resorts, while still remaining far less developped than its neighboor Phuket.

Krabi-town is the administrative main city of the province and has not much of interest, just a stop off city in your travel, where, aware of the beauty of the surrounding beaches, you won't want to stay too long. Nevertheless, you can pay it a visit to see its local market, visit Wat Sai Thai, in the center of town, hosting an impressive reclining Buddha, or go on excursion to Wat Tham Sua, or tiger cave, group of small temples built around and in the caves, located not far from town, the main attraction of Krabi.

Railey Beach - KrabiAo Nang Beach is a long beach of several kilometers with a powdery white sand and a stunning turquoize water, with colors only the Andaman coast can offer ! This is THE beach of Krabi and you will find there all classic facilities you will find in modern tourist spots, including water sports, and all kind of activities, while remaining a quiet and pleasant place to stay.
Escalade Railey - KrabiHere, even if you will find some bars and a nightclub, to entertain you in the evening, nightlife is far less developped than in Phuket and "Lady bars" are not so numerous, making Ao Nang a perfect destination for families.

Railey Beach is a beach South of Ao Nang, and is actually made of two beaches, one on the West side and the other on the East side, with in the deep south of it its famous Rock formation, favorite place of all climbers and climbing lovers of the whole world. If you are looking for a place in Thailand to practice rock climbing, you will surely find what you are looking for in Railey ! There are many rock climbing schools and you will have the opportunity to practice and enjoy some climbings, safely, with experimented professionals, whatever your level.

Koh Phi Phi, Jewel of the Andaman Sea

Emerald sea - Koh Phi PhiKoh Phi Phi is located south of Krabi, between Phuket and the mainland. it is actually made of two mountainous islands, Koh Phi Phi Ley and Koh Phi Phi Don, which are linked by a stretch of earth full of buildings and resorts. Koh Phi Phi Don is the smallest and is the only inhabited, while Koh Phi Phi Ley, the largest is a splendid National Park.

Many travellers will say you that the archipelago of Koh Phi Phi, with its limpid water, its huge lime rocks planted in the sea, stuffed with caves, where locals come to harvest the famous swallow nests, highly valued delicacy for chinese connoisseurs, is one of the most beautiful in the world and you will feel like the same, when you'll discover it.

Scenic views - Koh Phi PhiRemained hidden, just for initiates, for a long time, Koh Phi Phi has massively started its development in the early 2000s, after the success of Danny Boyle movie "The beach", which was filmed in the area (when the action does actually take place in Angthong Marine Park, West of Koh Phangan...) for its incredibly scenic natural landscapes.

Koh Phi PhiKoh Phi Phi will make you feel like you are in paradise, and you won't be that far... Long white sand stretches of beach, breathtaking panoramas on the Andaman Sea, exciting excursions to the Marine Park, on board of a Boat or Sea Kayaking, stunning underwater, with everything you might expect from a dive experience in tropical waters, with colourful fishes and corals of any kind. As you might expect, looking at the high rocks there, Koh Phi Phi is also a cool place to practice rock climbing. Koh Phi Phi will leave you everlasting memories of your stay, and surely the will to come back...

Koh Lanta, a paradise to be discovered

Koh Lanta is located in the south, one hour boat from Koh Phi Phi (and two hours from Krabi). Tropical island with enchanting particularities, Koh Lanta offers splendid fine white sand beaches, a turquoize and clear water and the marvelous show of the waves breaking on its long shores. The archipelago of Koh Lanta counts around fifty islands, most uninhabited. Fifteen of them are classified National Marine park.

Long white sand stretch of beach - Koh LantaThe main island is Koh Lanta Yai, and has twenty kilometers of white sand beaches, turquoize water at the foot of jungle covered mountains, a guenine tropical paradise. The beaches in the North and the South are the best, as the middle of the island is much more rocky, and this is where all Bungalows have opened their doors to host travellers.

Koh LantaAll the remaining part of the island is a National Park and is managed by the "Koh Lanta National Marine Park". Buildings are usually in natural materials and nicely blended in with the landscape.

Koh LantaRich in marine sites, Koh Lanta offers numerous interresting dive spots and its underwaters are full of colorful tropical species of all kinds. The population here is mostly "Sea Gypsies", fishermen living on the island since centuries and who have kept their customs and language.

Koh Lanta offers accommodation at all prices, from the simple basic bungalow aside the beach up to the 5 star cottage, with aircon and all modern facilities. About activities, you will enjoy here, like on all beaches of the Andaman coast, relaxing on the beach, scuba diving or snorkelling, go on excursions to discover the archipelago, get delighted eating the seafood... Simply enjoying your holidays !
