10th April 2012 Jan-Ake Petersson | The breakfast did not take into consideration western guests. More or less only thai food.
On the other hand we had thai dinner a few times at the restaurant and the food was excellent. | 6.2/10 |
5th December 2011 Wolfram | I can highly recommend the Laithong. Rooms are nice, clean, big and well appointed. Very good breakfast for asian and western people. Small, refreshing swimming pool on 3rd floor. Our kids love it. Staff friendly and helpfull (some speak english). Free airport transfer. | 9.4/10 |
24th February 2011 Michael Müller | Ein gutes Hotel, wenn man den Isaan erkunden möchte. Gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis | 6.4/10 |
1st February 2011 Darby Line | Adequate but rather tired older hotel. Value for the money but if you are expecting luxury, forget it. Very difficult communicating with the staff since almost no one spoke English. All tried very hard to please and were very kind. No one was available at the tour desk throughout our stay and when we asked for suggestions of places to go and things to do we got almost no help. On our own, we discovered a beautiful spa about an hour away, also a town where beautiful bells and gongs are made...no one mentioned any of these to us. Hotel location is just on the outskirts of the main business area...so it was quiet, and only about 10 minutes to the airport. But if you don t have a car, you must rely on tuk-tuks to get anywhere. You can rent cars at the airport and I advise doing this if you will be in town for more than a day or so. | 5/10 |
28th December 2010 Mark | Nice hotel for the area. So-so breakfast, if not kind of bad.
However, the hotel made an impression on me. I developed a terrible headache from dehydration during my one nights stay. They went out of their way to get me to the hospital and picked me up when I checked out. I stayed there again on my way back and they still were asking how I was doing. Nice people. Nice hotel. | 8/10 |
18th April 2010 Eric Backhouse | Good location close to airport, with free shuttle service.
Friendly and very helpful staff. | 7.4/10 |
11th June 2009 Bill (William) Lawrence | This is my preferred hotel in Ubon. Quality rooms and service. Nice buffet breakfast. Convenient to the town centre and for songthaews to the Bus station (B10). The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle to anf from the airport.
24th March 2009 Lisa Whytock | The service in the hotel was pretty poor and we got food poisining from eating in the japanese restaurant. Our sushimi was actually frozen! Breakfast was pretty poor as well. The rooms are fine and big and clean, but I have stayed in guest houses that are much better value for money than this place.
14th January 2009 Lars Erik Lunde | Great Hotel, Great People :-)
10th January 2009 lyckeskog manee/KennyLyckeskog/ Järlesti | Good hotell in city of ubon thani.
very good rooms brakfast okey.
very good price | 8.2/10 |
7th January 2009 Hans Bladby | Nice hotel and friendly service.
19th July 2008 Alain Gass | I have been the fourth time in this hotel. For Ubon Ratchathani, the hotel is most probably the best hotel in town, however for the price, you should expect more from the service. The rooms are ok for the price, clean, reception staff was friendly, however less than in the previous years. Breakfast buffet also lost some points on my scale. Swimming pool would be not bad, but no sun umbrellas. Everybody can see, that nobody takes care about it. All over a good hotel, that has a good reputation as one of the best hotels in a quiet area in UBON. But the hotel management should impove in service, otherwise other hotels will get ahead of the Laithong Hotel very very soon.
14th July 2008 Charles Marden Fitch | Very gracious staff @ comfortable hotel. Excellent breakfast buffet, clean rooms and central location. Free hotel bus to nearby airport. Town has several interesting Wats (temples) and is starting point for day trips to sites along Mekong River.
25th May 2008 Mark Wilson | good value for money, reasonably priced resturant, good if repretative breakfast.
rooms cleaned daily, free airport pick up.
one minus point, the in-house services are priced a litle crazily,1600 baht to wash a few cloths and we tried to hire a car and driver to take us to the local zoo(40km away) we were quoted 1800 bt,ok we thought a little steep for 3 hours max work, but we agreed until they told us we had to pay for the petrol as well.
none the less would recommend.
13th April 2008 George Morgan | Stayed two nights at the Laithong Hotel, Ubon Ratchatani, during Songkran 2008. Rooms are nice and the hotel is centrally located. Check in was fine but the receptionist behaved strangely by not wanting to talk directly to me, even though the booking was in my name and I addressed her in fluent Thai. She preferred to talk to my Thai wife, who sensing my irritation, walked away forcing the receptionist to talk to the person who was in a position to answer her questions. Breakfast was an unappetising selection of Thai and European food. We took a party of 10 to the Japanese/ Chinese restaurant. The food there was OK but the staff seemed totally untrained and spent most of the time hiding, so that we had to shout to bring them out of hiding whenever we wanted anything. There is free wi-fi in the rooms but during the day time it is overloaded and very difficult to connect with any websites. My wife left a $500 diamond ring in the soap dish in the bathroom by mistake. Two hours after checking out she realised her error and we went back to the hotel to look for it. It was gone and the room maid looked her in the eye and swore blind that she had not seen it - LOL. The Laithong is fine if you want a reasonably priced 3 star in the middle of town and don t expect good restaurants, efficient wi-fi or honest staff.
1st February 2008 Lars Erik Lunde | Great hotell, superior staff :-)
29th December 2007 Terry Rickard | Excellent hotel with a superb standard of service. They put on an extraordinary breakfast and a buffet at lunch time which has to be experienced to be believed. Did not know about buffet until I had been there two days as it is not advertised in English that I could see. Make friends with tuk tuk driver across the road. If you go out at night make sure you have arranged travel home. No taxis and tuk-tuks are rare or non existant at night Do not miss Asoke Ratchathani about 5 kilometres away. Self sufficient fundamentalist Buddhist village and they are all vegetarians living in large Chinese boats!! Hotel was great and I strongly recommend it.
23rd June 2007 Padraig Kennedy | Only stayed 2 nights but if ever in Ubon again I would most certainly stay here. Good rooms, good staff, good price.
15th May 2007 Paul Pybus | Minutes from the airport, and with several local restaurants within easy walking distance. Air-conditioned bedroom was clean with all facilities one needs, bathroom spotless. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of options. All the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Would stay here again.
23rd April 2007 John A Murphy | splendid hotel. Staff could not do enough. Good food, room , good entertainment and very relaxing place all round. Would loke to stay here again.
