Rayong is especially renowned for its tropical fruits such as pineapples, ramboutan and durian, but this province all along the south-east coast of the Gulf of Siam is mostly known by tourist for its more than 100 kilometers of beaches. Many hotels and restaurants are set all along these coasts and after your sunbathing days on the beach you will enjoy their mouth-watering seafood, including lobsters and calamari. You will enjoy the peacefullness of the beaches, pay a visit to the mainland and swim in the waterfalls, and the golf players will have the oppurtunity to practice their skills on many first class courses.
Mae Ramphung beach is the main beach of Rayong as it is only 11 km away from town. The beach itself is 12 km long and you will find hotels and restaurants or food stalls all along the beach road. It is a very pleasant beach, especially in week days, as it is much more busy on week-ends, when Thai people from Ranong and surroundings come to here. Saeng Chan beach is located just 7 km away from Rayong and therefore is the closest beach to town. It is actually a succession of small beaches, protected by successive sea walls. You will find many good quality hotels and restaurants all along the road lining the beach and enjoy fresh seafood from the small neighbour fishermen village of Laem Charoen.
Laem Mae Phim beach is a superb beach, 20 km away from Rayong, it is very popular among tourists, especially thai people coming here to stay and enjoy the many activities and water sports. You will find plenty of good restaurants and hotels for all budgets. Just facing the beach, you can see three tiny islands, Koh Mun Nai, Koh Mun Klang and Koh Mun Nok, you will easilly reach padling with a sea kayak, as they are only 5 kilometers from the beach.

Taksin Temple is located in front of Wat Lum Mahachai Chumphon and has been built to remind the short stay of the King Taksin in Rayong. The temple is worshiped a lot especially by Thaï people from chinese origins and it becomes a real pelgrimage site during the Chinese New Year, attracting many people there.
Wat Pa Pradu hosts a statue of a reclining Buddha of 12 meters long, but strangely reclining on the left side, contrary to the more conventionial right side.
Phra Chedi Klang Nam is an interesting 10 meters high chedi, located on a small island in the Rayong river estuary.
Si Muang Park is located in the center of town, just behind the city hall and hosts a buddhist temple of traditionnal thai architecture style.

Koh Samet and its Marine Park.
Koh Samet is a National Park of a great natural beauty, close to Pattaya and Bangkok, but so much different, it attracts all beach lovers fed up of the city noise, as you will find here fabulous beaches, but no crazy nightlife, with few bars and discotheques. Koh Samet is just 7 km away from the mainland and many consider its beaches to be the best of Thailand with those of Krabi province.
Sai Kaew beach, or Diamond Beach, is the longest and the most popular of all beaches of Koh Samet. It is located north east and is almost 1 km long. An heavenly beach, with many water sports and activities. Beach bars, small restaurants and accommodation for all budgets are lining the beach.
Ao Prao is the only real beach of the west coast, and therefore the only with sunset view. It is a pure jewel and only few hotels will be found there. The beach is only 200 m long and is really pleasant. Ao Prao is a high grade destination if you are mostly looking for relaxation and calm.
Ao Vongduen is a 500 m long beach, moon croissant shaped, offering a stunning sunrise. The sand is white and fine and the calm atmosphere is an invitation to lazyness. It is the second largest beach in Koh samet, you will find Deluxe hotels, but also first class seafood restaurants, with terrace overlooking the Gulf of Siam.
There are also more gorgeous and quiet coves around Koh Samet you might like to give a chance to, you can then try Noi Na beach on the north coast, or Ao Kew on the east coast, in the deep south of the island.
