3 Janvier 2011 Sofia Sinenko | VERY noisy place! You can hear everything happening in corridors when you are in the room.
Very durty: a lot of dust, hair on the floor of bathroom, my pillowcase was with gray stains! photos in all web sites don t reflect reality. | 3.2/10 |
30 Decembre 2010 Koh Soo Choo | The location is ideal for travellers who enjoy walking - like myself! Though I had to walk over to the Royal Peninsula for breakfast every morning, I didn t mind - rather enjoyed the 100m stroll after a hearty ABF :))
The staff was very warm and friendly and all my requests were met.
The Superior room was spacious and clean and everything was working well throughout my 7-night stay. I ll be back! | 9/10 |
5 Decembre 2010 David Timothy Brown | Royal Panerai Hotel is a reasonably well located hotel with new underground parking facilities (free at the time of our visit). Attractive lobby is unfortunately not representative of the general condition of the rooms, which are somewhat shabby and less than clean. Both room assignments were messed up upon arrival. Keys provided allowed us unfettered access to the already-occupied rooms of other tourists (good thin we are honest!), and necessitated a trip back to the desk and a wait of several minutes while the staff (polite and friendly but not too clued in) sorted out the problem.
Breakfast was poor by the standards of the competition, with very limited offerings of generally low quality food. Limited food situation was exacerbated by voracious and ill-behaved budget bus tourists (apparently a mainstay of the hotel s clientele, judging by the number of coaches in the car park), who shoved their way to the front of the queue to deplete in seconds what little food was available.
If you are hard-pressed for a low cost place to stay in Chiang Mai, this place will do in a pinch. But you can do better with the competition elsewhere for the same money. | 4.6/10 |
31 Decembre 2009 Soesan | Room is better than expected. Especially bath room is wide & clean. Room service also nice. For location, a bit far from night bazzer and other attraction places. But it will be good if you like to stay quiet. Breakfast is not so good. | 6.6/10 |
30 Decembre 2009 Rattanawadee | -
17 Mai 2009 Dennis Mitchell | I stayed at the sister hotel,Royal Peninsula last time I came to Chiangmai, and decided to try this one this time, as it was the same price. I was not terribly impressed. There is no restaurant at the hotel - for breakfast, you have to go to the Peninsula (some 300 metres distant) to eat - the hotel does provide free transport. Breakfast there was not terribly impressive, and was lukewarm at best the three days we were at the hotel, and with little choice - even my Thai friend was not impressed with the Thai food. You have to pay to use the single computer in the lobby area, whereas you can show your receipt/breakfast ticket at the Peninsula and use their single computer for free! The worst thing was safety!!!! There was a total blackout for three hours when a power pole outside somewhere collapsed and sent the entire district into darkness for three hours (NOT the fault of the hotel)- but....the emergency exit signs went out also! There is a free flashlight proudly mounted on the wall in each room for emergencies. Our one had an overage battery which had leaked and corroded so was not working. In addition, the emergency exit from the floors is at one extreme end of the building on each floor(we were top floor six), so if you are anywhere from there to the other end and a fire breaks out, you have no way to exit to these stairs!!!! (you can either stay in your room and hope, or jump out of the window and also hope (but you will need wings!!!) Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful, but on health and safety alone, I could not recommend.
13 Avril 2009 Pitchapa Pibulsakkul | WORST HOTEL FOR ITS PRICE!
The breakfast was sh**!! Everything was hot and warm Thai plates, which isn t pleasant if you don t feel like eating hot thai food in the morning! Our first breakast, we spendt 1 whole hour waiting for ordinary white toast with the fakest jam with other 5-6 guests, coz we don t feel like eating Thai curry with rice at 8AM and they ran out of toast!
Even though you CAN eat warm Thai food, all the food would run out at 9AM, whereas breakfast finishs at 10AM!
The staff was USELESS! Neither that they can t do anything or do NOTHING about any complains at all!
The gym facility is something like 3rd-hand broken machines! The running machine stops when you stand on it! The lifting machine bents forward and FALL down on you if you want to lift more than 10 kg! and that is what their gym consist of!!
It s far from the city centre. No laundry service near by (In the city is about 40THB per KG) whereas the hotel charge 50 THB for a pair of pants and +30THB for ONLY pressing!
Room service has 2 western dishes
1. Pasta Meat Sauce
2. Pasta Cabonara
and basically NOTHING ELSE
No pool, ONE guest computer with VERY slow internet connection, which we bought for 24 hours and was out of function for 8 hours (Between 9AM and 5PM)
The only good thing is we had a really nice and friendly housekeeper, who kept askig if we need anything or wanted extra things free of charge, or else this would have been the biggest shit of my holiday in Chiang Mai!
24 Fevrier 2009 OOI SWEE HOCK | Room quite big and spacious. Friendly staff. Good Thai breakfast. Friendly and helpful travel agent, Ah Tee.
4 Fevrier 2009 WANG JIA | good location, free wifi, and the straff was very kind. I would like come again
17 Decembre 2008 KT | I had wondered about the cheap rates... now I know.
This is a tourist class hotel catering to the frequent bus loads. This I suspect contributed to the well worn dusty rooms, and jaded staff with too much on their hands to provide better service.
Around the area, were sundry wholesalers rather than retailers - definitely not up the tourist s alley.
Will skip it for another hotel if I come back this way.
13 Decembre 2008 Michael James | This is the sister hotel to the Royal Peninsular 200 metres away. However, whilst the bathroom was bigger and not so basic, the appalling smell from bad drains meant it was no place to linger. Even the heavy use of cleaning agents couldn t disguise the bad smell.
Apart from toast there was absolutely nothing available for a western breakfast. We didn t eat anything preferring to get our breakfast from one of the many cafes in Chiang Mai. This place is one to avoid.
9 Decembre 2008 Punyas | Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable room with 750 baht for superiod room, very appreciate with my family.
Recommend!!! | |
14 Novembre 2008 Mr. Suthat Praesurin | nice & clean , good location for walking to Thapae Gate.
However breakfast is poor.
Anyway we will stay here again next time
23 Octobre 2008 Nigel Fallen | The hotel is great - absolute value for money. Staff members are friendly; thetour guy rocks!
12 Septembre 2008 Shinta Tan | conveniently located just outside the city wall, pick up service from airport is also ok, however if you travel with more people, a taxi from the airport is cheaper (120 baht), since they charge 100 baht/person for pick up service. They even have promotion price (due to low season) 700 baht/room.
10 Septembre 2008 Ingelie Wallden | My stay was really good. The staff was friendly and I could easily walk into the warorot- and the night market. The place is recided just outside the old town so it s really just about crossing a road to get there. No problem if you just take some time to get the flow of the traffic. The hotel recembeled the pictures.
3 Juillet 2008 Fay Lebsanft | reception staff don t understand english very well, but their tour agent does. Chief very happy to please as we required vegetarian breakfast, (but they have a nice variety for breakfast if you eat meats) No tea/coffee/milk supplied in our room. Hotel situated next to 7 eleven store, a large eatery, near old city mote, but quite a walk from bazaar night markets. scooter hire close by. charge 200 baht to get to airport, would have been cheaper via taxi.
14 Mars 2008 Zahid Mahmood | new hotel a bit out of way but can have peaceful night sleep. for the price is good hotel . offer only thai breakfast.staff is pleasant and polite
