Bienvenue à Koh Samui, l'île aux mille charmes.

Koh samuiKoh Samui est certainement la destination de Thaïlande la plus célèbre avec Phuket. Elle est même spécialement réputée comme destination parfaite pour les "voyages de noces" (Robert de Niro y fait d'ailleurs allusion plusieurs fois dans le film "Mon beau père et moi" avec Ben Stiller) et de nombreux resorts proposent des Packages "lune de miel" tout compris, incluant une cérémonie boudhiste.

Chaweng Beach - Koh samuiCe sont sans aucun doute les plages de Koh Samui qui lui ont apporté sa si grande notoriété.

Chaweng Beach, sur la côte est, est la plus longue plage de Koh Samui avec plus de sept kilomètres de sable blanc bordés de bungalows et resort de luxe, et aussi la plus fréquentée. L'industrie du tourisme y est bien rodée et tout est prévue pour vous faire passer les meilleures vacances de votre vie.

Chaweng Noi Beach est le prolongement de la plage de Chaweng et comme son nom l'indique (noi signifie petit en thai) elle est de plus petite dimension que sa grande soeur et est un lieu de villégiature agréable, calme, tout en restant proche des centres d'animations.

Lamai Beach - Koh samuiLamai Beach est la seconde plage la plus fréquentée de Koh Samui. Elle se développa en fait avant Chaweng, mais l'aéroport étant proche de Chaweng, elle devint moins prisée et Chaweng rattrapa son développement pour finalement la dépasser. La plage est magnifique, et donne une image plus calme et familliale de Koh Samui.

Le coucher de soleil ! De nos jours, de nombreux resort de haut standing y ont vu le jour mais l'endroit reste calme et magique.

Bophut Beach, continuité de Mae Nam vers l'est, est célèbre, car le Wat Phra Yai, temple qui abrite le "Big Buddha", une statue de Bouddha de 12 m de haut protégeant Koh Samui, se trouve à proximité. C'est une belle plage de sable blanc, avec vue sur Koh Phangan et le coucher de soleil, particulièrement apprécié des Français, ils sont nombreux à y venir chaque année et même à s'y être installés.

Taling Ngam et Lipa Noi sont les plages de la côte Sud-Ouest, elles sont moins fréquentées, mais comptent, en revanche, de nombreuses villas et résidences privées.

Faire la fête

Cabaret - Koh SamuiComme toute station balnéaire qui se respecte, Koh Samui ne s'occupe pas que de vos journées de mer et de soleil, mais prend aussi en charge de vous faire passer des nuits de folies dont vous vous rappelerez longtemps.

Chaweng Beach est, bien évidement le haut lieu de la vie nocturne à Koh Samui, avec de nombreux restaurants internationaux de grande qualité, de nombreux bars, avec ou sans hotesses, certains jouent de la musique live, avec des groupes locaux de bonne facture, si vous avez de la chance vous pourrez assister au "samui Jazz festival", accueillant des musiciens de renommée internationale, qui se tient courant novembre chaque année. Vous pourrez commencer la nuit dans un cabaret avec spectacle de "Lady-Boys" puis passer la nuit dans ces nombreux NightClubs accueillant des DJ internationaux, comme le Ark Beach Bar, le Green Mango Club, le Q Bar ou le Reggae Pub. Et si vous avez vraiment trop chaud, vous pourrez essayer le Bar Ice au nord du Lac, à -7°C !

Black moon Party - Koh samuiPour ne pas rester en reste avec sa petite soeur Koh Phangan, au nord, qui organise la fameuse Full Moon Party tous les mois, Koh Samui organise sa "Black moon Party" et sa "Half moon Party" au bord du lac de Chaweng, où sont régulièrement organisées des parties toutes les semaines.

Bar Ice - Koh samuiLamai a aussi une activité nocturne intense, avec un large choix de restaurants servant de la cuisine internationale, de très nombreux bars (avec ou sans hotesses) et quelques nightclubs, comme le Fusion Club ou le Swing Bar, qui vous permettront d'aller au bout de la nuit.

Fusion Club - Koh samuiMae Nam et Bophut sont beaucoup plus calmes, et même si vous pourrez y trouver quelques bars de qualité avec de la bonne musique, l'ambiance y est bien moins frénétique qu'à Chaweng ou Lamai. Vous pourrez, par contre, vous offrir quelques excellents diners sur la plage dans le restaurant chic de bord de mer de l'un des nombreux hôtels de grand luxe nichés sur cette côte, ou passer la soirée au "fisherman's village" à Bophut, et profiter de ses nombreuses offres de restaurants et bars de nuits, en front de mer, avec vue imprenable sur Koh Phangan et le coucher de soleil.

Les autres plages sont plus calme et vous devrez passer la soirée dans votre resort ou vous déplacer pour trouver un peu d'activité.

Nature et découverte

Big Buddha - Koh samuiLe Wat Phra Yai est le temple le plus célèbre de Koh Samui car il abrite le fameux "Big Buddha", une représentation de 12 m de Bouddha méditant, l'attraction la plus connue de Koh Samui. Il est situé sur une petite île, près de Bophut, qu'une route joint à Koh Samui.

Moine Petrifie - Koh samuiLe Wat Khun Aram, au sud, vers Hua Thanon, est connu pour son moine pétrifié, Loung Por Daeng, moine boudhiste de Samui qui mourru en position de méditation et dont le corps ne se dégrada pas, il est exhibé pour montrer la force de la voie du Boudhisme.

Le Wat Kiri Wongkaram est, lui aussi, connu pour une curiosité similaire, un moine momifié, Loung Por Ruam, qui était très vénéré et fut embaumé après sa mort pour être exposé au public derrière une vitre de verre. Il y a bien d'autres temples intéressant sur Koh Samui, comme le Wat Bophut ou le Wat Silangu qui abriterait une relique du Bouddha, ou encore le Wat Laem Sor avec son superbe chedi, ou le Wat Samui.

Cascades de Namuang - Koh samuiSi vous aimez les chutes d'eau, les chutes de Na Muang 1 et 2 devrait vous satisfaire, ce sont deux grandes cascades, à l'intérieur de Koh Samui, dans le parc national, une superbe ballade dans la jungle récompensée par un bain dans le bassin d'eau douce au pied des cascades.

Hin Ta & Hin Yai, littéralement grand-père et grande-mère, sont des formations rocheuses aux formes explicitement sexuelles, au sud de Lamai, curiosités naturelles beaucoup visitées par les touristes.

Butterfly Garden - Koh samuiSamui Butterfly Garden se trouve à Hua Thanon, une excellente promenade dans un jardin tropical au milieu des papillons en liberté. Tout en haut du parcours un musée éducatif vous attend avec toutes sortes d'insectes tropicaux exposés.

Le Samui Aquarium and Tiger Zoo, non loin du Butterfly garden, propose un magnifique aquarium d'espèces tropicales, avec des requins de toutes sortes, il y a aussi des spectacles de fauves et de peroquets.

La Snake Farm est l'attraction inévitable de Koh Samui, avec des spectacles impressionants de serpents, pour certains parmi les plus dangereux du monde.

Le Crocodile Farm & Reptile zoo, propose des spectacles de crocodiles, avec plus de 5 espèces différentes.

Le Monkey Theater, entre Chaweng et Bophut, propose divers spectacles avec les fameux singes dressés à ramasser les noix de coco dans les cocotiers.

Des activités de toutes sortes

Plongée - Koh SamuiEn dehors des journées sur la plage ou au bord de la piscine, Koh Samui offre d'innombrables activités pour combler les plus actifs d'entre vous.

Jonque la fortune - Koh samuiBien sûr, la plongée sous-marine vous fera découvrir des fonds marins parmi les plus beaux du monde, qui surclassent ceux pourtant magnifique de la mer Andaman, avec des sites de plongée classés 5 étoiles. De nombreuses écoles de plongées vous proposent des excursions vers les différents sites intéressants, vous pouvez même y aller en Jonque chinoise traditionnelle, pour une journée ou plusieurs jours de croisière.

Le Parc Marin de Angthong, entre Samui et le continent est un site absolument magnifique, groupement d'îlots vierges et sauvages, des excursions quotidiennes vous permettent de le visiter et de vous y promener en Kayak de mer.
Santhiburi Golf - Koh Samui
Les amateurs de sports nautiques seront aussi comblés, car les jet-ski, Kayaks de mer et autres voiliers sont devenus courants et il est facile de pratiquer. Un agréable moyen de faire le tour de Koh Samui.

Boxe Thaie - Koh samuiGolf. Les amateurs de golf pourront aussi se faire plaisir, car il existe deux parcours de 18 trous, tous les deux au nord avec une vue sublime sur Koh Phangan. Le plus ancien, le "Santhiburi Country club" se trouve à Mae Nam, le second est le "Bophut hills Golf club" sur les collines de Bophut.

Boxe Thaïe. Koh samui est connu depuis longtemps comme un centre important de formation à la Boxe Thaïe et vous trouverez de nombreuses écoles pour pratiquer.

Vous pourrez aussi vous amuser et faire du Karting, du Paintball, vous essayer aux armes au Samui Shooting range, partir en randonnée à dos d'éléphant, ou en ballade à cheval, tenter le saut à l'elastique ou la descente sur cable...
Et vous pourrez même repartir plus savant et apprendre la cuisine Thaie ou la sculpture sur fruit à la célèbre école "Sitca" de Chaweng.

• Pour visiter un hôtel en particulier sur la carte, cliquez sur son icône, puis cliquez sur la photo affichée dans la bulle informative, un nouvel onglet s'ouvrira dans votre navigateur affichant la page de cet hôtel.
