9 Fevrier 2012 John Haste | Not the worst hotel i have stayed in or the best, the first room offered had neither duvet, mosquito net or mirrors not that i am vain, also a distinct shortage of lighting for reading!!One would need to be fairly fit as it is built on the side of a hill, with a dirty pool.
Breakfast not very good dinner menu average, would i stay there again NO,would i reccommend it NO. | 4.6/10 |
7 Fevrier 2012 Rowena Mckeown | Beautiful place, stunning scenery. We were in a cliff view room, ideal as half way between reception and restaurant and by the pool (which is lovely!) It is far from the other resorts so you rely on their restaurant (prices aren t exaggerated and reasonable quality) but the scenery more than makes up for it. Bathroom half outside, you might get visitors, I came face to face with a small bat in the middle of the night, but then you are in the jungle.. Very helpful staff. | 10/10 |
14 Septembre 2011 Coy Jett | Great place, not sure how it compared to others near by, but we were very happy. Not 4 star, but staff was friendly. Food was good if you ordered off the menu but breakfast lacking some. Room was not perfect but the view made up for it! And it is worth it to go for a 2hr. traditional thai massage. | 8.6/10 |
30 Mai 2011 Gavin Allison | While the hotel s location offers spectacular scenery (at the base of a towering cliff), we were disppointed with the room quality given the higher price than other hotels located nearby. The mattress was hard, and while the open air shower and toilet were a novelty, sharing them with geckos was less so. We were not expecting open-air toilet/shower in the room type we had booked (Clifftop View) | 6.6/10 |
19 Janvier 2011 K | Really nice place! It s quite faraway from the National parks gate but I liked the place very much. | 8.4/10 |
10 Janvier 2011 Jane Evans | The Cliff & River jungle resort is located in a truly breathtaking spot and is a beautiful resort with lovely bungalows. The price you pay for this stunning location is that it is somewhat cut-off. Having your own means of transport would give you the freedom to explore Khao Sok yourselves, so I would recommend this if possible. | 8.6/10 |
14 Janvier 2010 sofik meah | It is situated in a beautiful place the deluxe rooms are very nice and comfortable, transport to and from the hotel very expensive | 7.6/10 |
7 Janvier 2010 Kolbein Blakar | Charming and relaxing resort with polite and friendly staff.
Too many dogs in the resort, begging for food in the restaurant and around the check-in/out desk. | 6.6/10 |
5 Octobre 2009 Justine Broadhurst-Bristow | We were blown away by the incredible natural beauty of this resort. The mountains, the mist, the trees, the river..all so magical. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. All four of us agreed that the Thai massages were the best we d had yet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast needs improvement. | 9.2/10 |
7 Mars 2009 geoffrey rose | It has to said that its VERY basic but then for the price we paid we had a good time. The rooms are positioned well (although there alot of steps!) and its quite magical waking up in the morning to the swirling mists. The beds were hard - really hard! and the accomodation basic but adequate - a quick swill down of the bathroom usually removed most of the insects! But it was what we expected and it was good to stay near the national park where we went elephant riding, canoeing and hiking. All in all we had a good time
28 Fevrier 2009 Mrs S Leverick | The resort was exactly as advertised. Scenery spectacular and location stunning. Not suitable for those only used to 5* hotel pampering and luxury! mattresses like rocks and bed linen interesting and practically non existent. Bathroom facilities Japanese garden style and hence open to the skies. Privacy hard to come by. Very long drive not helped by inadequate road signage and signs to the resort itself.
16 Fevrier 2009 Ernst-Peter Lockemann | Beutiful surrounding - the nicely decorated cabanas have a breathtaking view to the cliffs. Nice little pool and very friendly manager. But the staff does not speak nor understand a word in english and the breakfast is very poor - cold scrumbled egg and no fruits at all. We stayed there for 3 nights. If we would stay again in Khao Sok we probably would look for another hotel?
29 Janvier 2009 Nils Sandmann | Lovely hotel, located in an amazing countryside. Comfprtable and big bungalows with large terrace. Toilet and shower with an open air view. From the pool you have a magnificent view over the landscape. Friendly stuff, especially the manager makes everything possible for you. He organises further transport, although in our case we were set off before our destination because they refused to pay the ferry which was promised and had to go on our selves. Food in the restaurant is good but due to the stuffs poor english you often do not get what you ordered. Breakfast is ok, when there are many guests they have a buffet, but the focus is on asian style breakfast. We can recommand this place and had a great time there.
5 Janvier 2009 Penelope Bright | We stayed for 4 nights in January during a 5 week holiday in SE Asia and this was one of our favourite and cheapest places. Khao Sok is very beautiful. This resort is situated about 10 minutes (by car) from the main entrance of the National Park. We had a hire car so this was no problem.
It is simple and tasteful accommodation with spectacular views of the mountains. It is a very peaceful and serene venue which we just adored. The gardens are beautiful and the staff extremely friendly. Breakfast is a very simple affair but served our needs.
We ate dinner most nights at the very little village near the entrance to the National Park. This village is purpose built for tourists but has a really nice atmosphere. There are a few mini marts, several inexpensive restaurants and tour companies. There are also a few resorts there however, we were very happy to return to the idyllic peace and quiet of our little resort a at the end of each day.
We highly recommend this venue!
17 Decembre 2008 Rachel and Dan Cartlidge | Despite slight uncertainty in our travel arrangements getting to the hotel (all entirely our fault!) we were safely deposited at the door around 8pm by a mini-bus driver from Surat Thani. The hotel staff were expecting us, were accommodating of our need to eat and explained the general routine and facilities of the hotel.
We awoke to the most phenomenol view of the cliff and surrounding fauna. Absolutely breathtaking!
The room was simple but very clean, the air con was brand new and the views from the toilet and shower were great!
If you can accept that there is limited choice than to book services through the hotel and remember there isn t any ATM / card transaction facilities, you can have a really wonderful stay here. Beware the steep steps from reception to the restaurant though!
They clearly don t expect people to stay for long as they seem used to Thai tourists coming for weekend excursions. However, our four nights were easily filled with pool-side relaxation, bird-watching, a massage and only a couple of additional excursions. You don t need to cram it all in in a rush.
The hotelier was exceedingly helpful, efficient and adept at juggling everything to ensure you could do what you wanted to without spending the maximum price.
Khao Sok National Park was beautiful and there was a great deal more we could have seen.
If we return to Thailand, we will return to the Cliff and River. If you are not expecting the Ritz but want a good hotel experience and enjoy being away from too many western tourists, we would recommend this resort.
